2023 Travel Team Tryouts

WHEN:

Tryouts will be the month of February, on Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. We encourage skaters to attend all tryout dates (Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22) but it is not mandatory.

WHERE:

BBRD skating facility, Smoky Mountain Event Center (758 Crabtree Road Waynesville, North Carolina 28785)

REQUIREMENTS:

To tryout, skaters must have passed WFTDA minimum skills and have bout experience. There is a fee of $20 (total) for non-league members. If selected for the TT, skaters must attend a minimum of 66% of all league/TT practices and serve on a league committee to be bout-eligible. 

After February, TT practices will be Sundays from 4-6 pm and Wednesdays from 7-9 pm. All-league practices will be Tuesdays from 7-9 pm at the Smoky Mountain Event Center.

DETAILS:

The BRRD Travel Team (TT) includes both the All Star Team and B-level Team. Tryouts will be for both teams. BRRD head coach, Gabriel, will facilitate tryouts and BRRD Training Committee will assess skaters using a grading scale rubric to determine eligibility. The grading system is based on skills, performance, agility, communication, strategy, attitude, versatility, and hustle.

Our 2023-24 season goals are to be as competitive as possible in all A&B bouts, and to win gold at the regional cup. BRRD strives to foster an environment where athleticism, inclusivity, and cooperation thrive.
