Come to play. Stay for the community.

Blue Ridge Roller Derby's mission is to foster community involvement and the empowerment of individuals through the sport of roller derby. We are always striving to improve our WFTDA ranking and our on-track skills but at the core of our existence is community.

The 2024 season brings an opportunity to step up.

Opportunity to step up for each other, both past and present league members, and step up within our larger community. This renewed focus means we are looking for community service projects. If your organization needs volunteers or are interested in forming a partnership with Blue Ridge Roller Derby please email us at info@blueridgerollerderby.com!

The 2024 season bRINGS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LEARNING.

Blue Ridge is committed to teaching Roller Derby from the ground up– from refs to volunteers to skaters, we strive to offer programming and clinics that offer well-rounded, valuable training. One key aspect to doing this safely and respectfully is by continuing to foster the respectful, supportive, and positive community that BRRD already has!

Playing derby pushes me outside of my introverted shell and into leadership positions. It motivates me to be heathy and active. Also, buns of steel.
— Goldie Rox

Derby gives me a sense of recognizing myself in the chaos of life and has provided continuous opportunities to evolve. I may not be the best but there have been so many times where I’ve put in my best. I know there will come a day that I will hang up my skates but I won’t have any regrets. Not one.
— Levee BreaksHer

I grew up skating in the streets with my sister on whatever flat surface we could find so roller derby is an exciting challenge for me. Today, as a teacher, it is my duty to model tenacity and perseverance. I skate because I want to instill in my students that it’s not about how many times you fall, but about how many times you get back up.
